The collection of archive films and interviews from the Staffordshire Film Archive represents the best examples of Stoke captured on film between 1900 and the 1970's. We begin by looking at Stoke upon Trent in the jubilee year 1960. Then we see the earliest film of railway workers in King Street ,1901 - and hear and see something of the North Staffordshire Railway around 1910. Stoke station is seen in the days of steam trains and Santa arrive on a Knotty train in 1922. There is the Kings visit in 1925 to declare Stoke a city and his visit to the infirmary at Hartshill. Stoke town centre is shown in 1926 scenes and George Barber is seen as Lord Mayor at the Town Hall in the 1930.
In the 1930's we see Michelin ,Stanley Mathews at Stoke City and pottery making processes in Spode. After "digging for victory" in 1941, we look at the cinemas of Stoke - the Majestic, Kosy, Hippodrome and Danilo. Stan leaves Stoke City in a farewell match in 1965 and we see the team bring the League cup back in 1972 - concluding with local comments and scenes from the 1970's.
