You might think you know the story of the 1972 Andes plane crash - in which the survivors were forced to eat the bodies of their dead friends - from the drama film Alive! But this haunting movie tells that story as never before, through the words of the survivors themselves who make an emotional pilgrimage to the crash site, some 30 years after the plane carrying the 'frisky young colts' of a Uruguayan rugby team crashed in the high Andes. Amazingly, 29 out of 45 passengers and crew survived the initial impact, of whom 24 were uninjured. As rescue hopes faded and their food ran out, they were, as one says: 'forced to abase ourselves to such a point that defies human imagination'. After ten weeks two of the group trekked across the mountains until they finally reached civilisation and brought back a rescue party. The words of the survivors even now, 30-odd years on, carry a chilling poignancy. 'Stranded' is a gripping tale told with moving simplicity. - Actors:
