- From the moment she sets eyes on it, Molly Pargeter (Susan Fleetwood) knows that the Tuscan villa, La Felicita, is perfect for her family's summer holiday. With the possibility of soaking up the sun, viewing magnificent pieces of art and sightseeing there is plenty to do. When the water supply falls and a neighbour dies suddenly, Molly becomes increasingly obsessed with unravelling the secrets of the villa's enigmatic owner and of the British expatriates and locals they encounter. Molly's libidinous father, Haverford Downs (John Gielgud), is on hand to help with the mysteries while also setting his sights on a rich widow.
