Better Than Avatar - Surrogates review by CP Customer

Spoiler Alert
18/01/2010

From the director of Terminator 3 and Bruce Willis comes this enjoyable science fiction romp. Set in the near distant future, Surrogates is the evolution of technology that we are enjoying today and slowly is taking over our lives. In the Surrogates world, inhabitants rarely venture outside of their own homes. Instead they are content to live out their lives and interact through the own robotic form of their selection. This even applies to families and couples who rarely meet and exist in a virtual state of flux. The actual crime and conspiracy itself is standard fare and this is what lets Surrogates down. While I did enjoy the cast playing sterile MTV-friendly inhabitants complete with wooden acting, some of the CGI is noticeably obvious. It also feels like we’re missing a few subplots and scenes in this version, which clocks in as a swift 85 minutes. While it lasts Surrogates is an enjoyable romp but only half the film it should have been.

Fast pace film with a very far fetched story. Extremely well worth watching. Bruce Willis looks a lot younger with a wig on!

A solid Sc-Fi movie. - Surrogates review by CP Customer

Surrogates isn't exactly 'mind-blowing' but it's a solid and enjoyable Sci-Fi action thriller. The storyline is fairly decent, though the idea of the majority of the population living their lives in their pyjamas and experiencing the outside world through a 'second life' style surrogate seemed a bit far fetched. On the plus side Bruce Willis gave a remarkably measured performance and it's the best thing I've seen him in for ages, and the supporting cast did a fine job. With a slightly more punchy script this could have been a cracking movie, though as it stands it's still an enjoyable 85 minute ride.
