A British remake of the famous Alfred Hitchcock film with Cary Grant, in which Anthony Andrews plays Johnnie Aysgarth, a very eligible bachelor who appears to be both wealthy and a perfect gentleman...but the truth is very different. An American heiress (Jane Curtin) falls in love with Johnnie and after a whirlwind affair the couple marry. Lina then discovers that far from being rich, Johnnie is broke, and a compulsive liar and gambler. Unable to keep a job and unwilling to give up gambling, Johnnie develops a bizarre fascination for murder. And when his best friend dies mysteriously, Johnnie is inexplicably vague about his whereabouts. Lina's suspicion spirals into near certainty when she discovers that Johnnie's request to borrow money against her life insurance policy can only be fulfilled in the event of her death... - Actors:
