The father of electric blues guitar, T-Bone Walker has influenced virtually every blues, jazz & rock guitarist, including B.B. King, Kenny Burrell, Chuck Berry and Jimi Hendrix. His original composition, "Stormy Monday", has become the classic slow blues. As one of the earliest pioneers of the electric guitar, his tasty, economical & expressive lead lines have come to define the essence of cool blues guitar soloing. His dramatic & soulful phrasing have a power undiminished by the passage of time. In addition, his classy chord voicings and sophisticated syncopation have been the basic for blues guitar accompaniment for fifty years.
Duke RobillardAs the founder of Roomful of Blues, guitarist extraordinaire Duke Robillard showed his ability as a player and his knowledge of swing era blues. The Rhode Island-based horn band was especially adept at playing the music of T-Bone Walker. Since leaving Roomful Of Blues, Duke has demonstrated that his talents extend to all styles of American guitar music. A stint with the Fabulous Thunderbirds proclaimed his fierce Texas chops while his critically acclaimed solo recordings have covered the spectrum from swing jazz to rockabilly to Chicago blues and beyond. As he did with T-Bone Walker on Volume 1 of the Bluesmasters series, Duke once again gives invaluable insights into the style of a legendary blues guitarist.
