Tanks, assault guns and various armoured vehicles were considerably further developed during WW II. At the beginning of the war in 1939, nearly all of the armoured vehicles were light or middle weight. Between 1939 and 1940, the German Wehrmacht had only light weight tanks in service which were not able to meet the demands of modern warfare. During the war the changes were not only quick but also radical. This development brought forward tanks such as the Panzer IV, Tiger and Konigstiger (King Tiger) which soon dominated the war fields. These two films deal intensively with tank missions. Film 1 - 'Tank Wars on the Western Front'. Film 2 - 'Heavy and Light Tank Units on the Eastern Front'.
