The Ardennes Offensive (16 December 1944 - 25 January 1945) was a major German offensive through the forested Ardennes Mountains region of Belgium, France and Luxembourg. The Germans mounted a surprise attack against the relatively inexperienced First U.S. Army, during heavy overcast weather, when the Allies strong air forces were grounded. The Germans were ultimately defeated and were left severely depleted of men and equipment. With over 800,000 men committed and over 19,000 killed, the Battle of the Bulge became the biggest and bloodiest battle that American forces experienced in World War II. The video contains a total of 5 short propaganda movies produced during the war by the Americans that document the Wochenschau, The Bulge, Enemy Strikes, Christmas 1944 and the March of Time.
