- One of histories most famous battles also saw the death of one of its most colourful characters - the charismatic and flamboyant George Armstrong Custer. Desperate to win a victory to restore his flagging reputation, Custer trusted his luck once too often with disastrous consequences for the once-feted hero and the men under his command. Never before had the Indian tribes won such a spectacular victory over the white man, but as history reveals, the victory would cost them dearly.
