Held in the picturesque setting of Jamaica's Montego Bay, Reggae Sunsplash is the first and biggest festival for reggae musicians and fans. First held in 1978, it rapidly became the venue for established superstars and up-and-coming contenders. Bob Marley, newly elevated to global popularity, chose to headline Sunsplash in 1979 and that gave the lead for others to follow. The festival attracted not just native Jamaicans but music fans from all over the world. Within a few years there were audiences in excess of 50,000 attending the concerts. This collection features nearly two and a half hours of highlights from Sunsplash concerts held between 1987 and 1990, including contributions from the biggest names in reggae.
