- Synopsis:
- The Borgias is a fictionalised telling of the Spanish Borgia family and is based around one of the oldest crime families in history. After Rodrigo Borgia (Jeremy Irons) becomes pope, the series follows not just Rodrigo but his three sons, his daughter and his ostracized wife as they struggle to maintain power as they are targeted by cardinals within the Vatican hoping to be the next pope as well as enemies outside the papal walls. Ultimately a tale in absolute corruption as the Borgias deal in sex, lies and violence to maintain their stranglehold over the church.
