The small New Zealand town of Brokenwood has charming landscapes, quirky inhabitants - and an alarming murder rate. Eccentric Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Shepherd (Neill Rea) is on the case, along with straitlaced Detective Kristin Sims (Fern Sutherland) and ambitious DC Sam Breen (Nic Sampson). They are joined by newcomer DC Daniel Chalmers (Jarod Rawiri), who gets a crash course in the town's lethal idiosyncrasies. In Series 7, Mike and his team contend with the murder of a superstar TV host, a death in the sauna of a health retreat, a fatal bank robbery, a stabbing with a pitchfork at a farmers' market, a deadly fire at the cinema, and a 1970s-themed party gone wrong.
