- Synopsis:
In bucolic Brokenwood, New Zealand, the residents live a seemingly quiet existence and appear, at first glance, to be harmless. But beneath the town's peaceful veneer, killers, blackmailers and trouble-makers lurk in even the most picturesque of corners. Senior Sergeant Mike Shepherd (Neill Rea) and his smart, by-the-book sidekick, Detective Kristin Sims (Fern Sutherland) continue to contend with the idiosyncrasies of the residents of Brokenwood. Last series ambitious Detective Sam Breen (Nic Sampson) moved to pastures new, and DC Daniel Chalmers (Jarod Rawiri) joined the team. With six feature-length, standalone mysteries, Season 8 will see a murder at a music festival where the victim was seemingly literally killed by sound, the violent death of a cowgirl possibly motivated by a 160-year-old family feud, and an Egyptian mummy that appears to return to life. - Actors:
