Synopsis:
"Stop acting like a pig!" I really wonder how many children took this parental admonition seriously, but the producers of the one of the films (Johnny Learns His Manners) in this entertaining video certainly did. The result was the production of a humorously presented lesson on the value of good manners - behave badly and you become a pig. Use of animation adds flavor to a well intended set of films all focusing on the same issue - good manners! Imaginative story lines and dramatized presentations of situations serve the cause of the films well, although the footage is mostly in black and white. The emphasis on moral codes is especially well conveyed in the 1953 Sid Davis production, aptly titled "Gossip". This film outlines the drastic effects of gossip on a young girl's life. There is a lesson for parents as well - "reward good manners and be a little patient, give them (the children) a little time to learn". After all, Rome was not built in one day!
