Health and safety have long been a major source of concern for American families. That?s why over the years the government has created a good number of educational films dealing with the welfare of our children. This DVD cleverly assembles some of the best made films of this genre ? most of them from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. Some were shot in black and white and some in color, but all have been well preserved and excellently transferred from celluloid to a digital format.
This DVD takes the viewer through a wide variety of subjects, ranging from childhood hunger and teen disability to the importance of vaccinations against polio. There is even a film from the 1940s explaining to children exactly why soap and water are important to use on a regular basis. These clips are an excellent source of history and provide a good barometer of the health and safety challenges we faced during the 20th century.
