He's taken on schoolchildren; he's taken on teachers; but now, Gareth Malone is about to take on a whole town! The community of South Oxhey don't know it yet, but their lives are about to be transformed. Built to house homeless post-war Londoners, South Oxhey has fallen out of love with itself since the 1950's, becoming bleak, withdrawn and unwelcoming, viewed suspiciously by outsiders; defensively by insiders. That's about to change. When Gareth Malone arrives and tries to stoke up interest in a community choir, resistance goes up like a wall. But gradually cracks appear as Gareth divides and conquers with three choirs, of schoolchildren, locals, and a small but hardcore men's group. How they come together to form the largest community choir in Europe is a story of laughter, tears, commitment and community; a community that learned to love singing, and learned to love itself.
