Season 4 of "The Closer" is described by James Duff as a meditation on power in its many forms. The season opens with Brenda confronted by the natural power of a brush fire in Griffith Park. Soon the PHD must struggle with the power of the media, in the form of a reporter with an agenda all his own. On the home front, Brenda must grapple with sharing, and surrendering, power as she prepares to marry Fritz - if only she'll commit to a date. The summer ends with the life of one PHD member hanging in the balance, and the team renamed the Major Crimes Division. Later, events take a dark turn as a suspect, and an attorney, abuse the protective power of the legal system to their own advantage.
