Tired Good v. Evil Flick - The Dark Is Rising review by CP Customer

Spoiler Alert

Apart from trying to compete with umpteen good-v-evil films, this film suffered from 2 major problems. Firstly, for a 'family' film it is a little scary in parts for smaller children but not scary enough for adults, and secondly, the acting (apart from Ian MacShane) was unconvincing particularly in the leading parts.

A laboured film that didn't really know which audience to target.

Good family fantasy - The Dark Is Rising review by CP Customer

Spoiler Alert

A bit scary in places so I would say not suitable for younger children. A good film about light v. dark, or good v. evil. The lad who plays Will Stanton is one to watch in the future but I found Christopher Eccleston distinctly wooden and uncharismatic. Very disappointing performance from him.
