Legendary big band leaders Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey star in this enthralling 1947 biographical movie which traces the story of the musical brothers eventful lives and the professional rivalry that marked their sibling relationship. The Dorsey brothers were the undisputed leaders of the 30s and 40s big band era. Their father, Thomas Snr., first introduced Jimmy and Tommy to music. The two ambitious and constantly guarrelling brothers formed their own band while still very young, and later expanded their musical apprenticeship by playing for the renowned orchestra of the great Paul Whiteman - who also stars in the movie. In 1934 the Dorsey brothers formed their own orchestra but a year later they fell out, and went on to form their own bands, becoming two of the most successful bandleaders of the era - as well as keen musical rivals. "The Fabulous Dorseys" is the story of their colourful respective careers, and how the two brothers were reunited on the death of their father.
