Synopsis:
Wendy (Lena Headey), a hardened immigration officer is offered a high-profile asylum case, judged on her ability to quickly and clinically reject applicants. Through her interrogation, she must uncover whether Haile (Ivanno Jeremiah) is lying and has a more sinister reason for seeking asylum. We follow Haile on his perilous 5000 KM journey over oceans, across borders, and amidst the flurry of the Calais Jungle to find solace and safety in the UK. But now he must cross the final hurdle. Based on multiple true stories, 'The Flood' is a thoughtful and timely reflection on the humanity within the refugee crisis.

Floods of boredom - The Flood review by DW

Spoiler Alert
02/01/2020

Perhaps one of the most boring dull films I have watched

Waited in anticipation that the would improve but not so.

Like Lena Heady from Game of Thrones but this was so disappointing.

Immigration from both sides - The Flood review by DM

Spoiler Alert
24/02/2020

This film is shows both sides of the Immigration problem, the continuous flood of illegals trying to flee from their home country, and why.

The main character who was captured and tortured in his home country of Eritrea has escaped and we follow his journey to the jungle camp in Calais. When he finally makes it to the UK he is taken to an immigration holding where he is interviewed at length, Lena Heady's character conducts the interview, and develops sympathy for the man. Now, while I feel for those who are persecuted and escape from their homeland under the threat of torture or death, why can't they seek asylum in the nearest safe country, why are so many determined to get to the UK. This film is interesting and well acted, and I recommend you watch it.

A moving story about a refugee - The Flood review by MG

Spoiler Alert
22/03/2021

This film is not easy to watch, but it is gripping and powerful.  It tells the story of the refugee experience from the standpoint of one individual - his terrifying escape from Eritrea and across Europe - set against the cold and clinical UK immigration office, focusing also on one of its officers and her particular story.  The fact that the main protagonist is kind, altruistic and heroic throughout, despite a terrible childhood,  makes it a little unbelievable,  but it does make a very moving story and one which needs to be told again and again in different ways and contexts.
