This dramatic and entertaining documentary program explores different approaches to gain a comprehensive understanding of our world which can be divided into the four elements: Earth, Air, Water (lakes), and Fire.
Earth: Earth is probably the most obvious element when discussing elemental environments. Every inch of our planet is crawling with life, sometimes large, other times too small to see. The profound interrelated influence man and Earth have with each other is explored.Air: Air is the element that surrounds us all. It is omnipresent and vital to us and most other organisms on Earth. The circulation of the air, or atmosphere, creates weather, which can behave chaotically. Climate has significant influence on the cooling and warming of our atmosphere. For this reason the study of Earth's atmosphere is critical to our survival.
Water: Most lakes contain fresh water, which makes them a focus for life, as all land-based animals require water to survive. Yet only 3 percent of the world's water is fresh, with two thirds being locked away in polar or glacial ice. Russia's Lake by Chao and the Great Lake System of North America make up as much as half of what's left over.
Fire: Forests, wildlife, property and often human life is endangered when fires break out. Fires strike when the air is hot and the land is dry - and spread when high winds fan the flames. Lightening is the major source of naturally occurring fires. The study of weather patterns that produce lightning strikes and protecting against its consequences is of major importance.- Voiced By:
