Historical documentary which focuses on the significance of Adolf Hitler's birthday throughout his time as leader of Nazi Germany. Hitler came to power in 1933, and every year on the 20th of April, the country would celebrate in his honour. Throughout the war years, however, these events would become more and more reserved, and in 1945, Hitler celebrated his final birthday just before taking his own life. The programme investigates what these events meant to the Führer, and what they tell us about life in Germany at the time.
