When Tom Good (Richard Briers), a 40 year old draughtsman, and his wife Barbara (Felicity Kendal), drop out of the rat race and become self-sufficient they change their lives forever. To the horror of their neighbours, Jerry (Paul Eddington) and Margo Leadbetter (Penelope Keith), the Goods turn their lovely Surbiton home into a self-sufficient farm complete with vegetable parches, a goat, pigs and a multitude of hens.
S1/E7. Backs to the Wall Margo and Jerry setoff on their holiday to Kenya whilst the Goods are planning the harvest. However, the Goods plans suffer a set back when Tom puts his back out.
S3/E5. The Wind-Break War Margo has arranged for an arbour ro be built in her garden and rhe position of the wind-break causes much distress to the Goods.
S4/E1. Silly, But It's Fun... Margo has ordered the Leadberrer's Christmas and it arrives in a van, however, when the tree is not up to scratch Margo sends it back. The Good's opt for a simpler celebration which turns out to be much more fun - even for Margo!
