- Arriving in New York to marry her fiance, Xaviera (Lynn Redgrave) is quickly disappointed to find that her dream man is in fact an insufferable momma's boy. She leaves him and, while working a boring desk job, the swinging single meets a wealthy businessman who introduces her to a new life and a new lifestyle. Realising she can be paid very well for doing something she enjoys, Xaviera quickly works her way up through New York society and becomes the most successfull madam in town. But can she stay on top forever?
