Video technology came too late to record the golden years of Britain's railways during the steam era, but thanks to a handful of amateur cameramen armed with 8mm cine cameras, many images of the "Iron Horse" have been saved for posterity. This series is a collection of some of those shots and Part II covers the East Midlands and the North East of England. We begin at Leicester at the Great Central Station where experimental gas turbine locomotive GT3 is seen in the shed. Then it's north to Derby, via Loughborough and Nottingham. From Nottingham we join the East Coast main line at Grantham and experience the majesty of the Gresley Pacifies at work, before moving north to Doncaster and York. A brief visit to the Thirsk and Darlington area and then we cross to West Yorkshire for some steam trains on the magnificent Settle and Carlisle Line. All the shots, taken in the 1950's and 1960's, are totally original and are in full colour with sound track and commentary.
