Alexandre Aja’s 2006 remake of ‘The Hills Have Eyes’ was easily one of the best horror films of recent times. Aja took the original though somewhat weak story line of Wes Craven’s 1977 film and cleverly added a whole new dimension by slowly building up the tension in the first half of the film until it reached a crescendo, then in the second half unleashing an avalanche of horrific gore filled violence and brutality which lasted right up to the closing credits. ‘The Hills Have Eyes 2’ on the other hand is complete and utter drivel. Director Martin Weisz is given the exact same $15 million budget as Alexandre Aja and manages to create a cheap looking, dull, badly acted, repetitive and pointless sequel which does nothing more than to attempt to cash in on Aja’s vastly superior film. Avoid this turkey like the plague.
