On the banks of the Han River, a crowd gathers to watch an unidentified object hanging onto a bridge. In an instant, the object reveals itself as a terrifying creature, turning the riverbank into a gruesome sea of blood. Amid the chaos, a little girl, Hyun-sea is snatched up by the creature right before her father, Gang-du's eyes. After receiving a mobile phone call from his daughter confirming that she has miraculously survived, the once-ordinary citizen Gang-du and his family decide to wage war against the creature, despite both Korean authorities' and U.S. army's every efforts to stop them. Horror movie with a difference - The Host review by CP Customer
An irresponsible lab dumps loads of chemicals in a Korean river which causes a mutant fish-like creature to emerge. This is quite a funny film, yet at the same time it is a bit scary a bit gory and a bit political. Don't think I've seen anything like it before! It was a tad overlong but still enjoyable. The special effects are exceptional and it looks realistic, even though you know it can't be! The main characters are from the same family and their disputes and squabbles add to the humour and to the poignancy.

Interesting monster! More a spoof on South Korean society that dead serious science fiction, there were a number of laughs intended in the film. Not my highest choice for an evening, but one for an evening when not much on the tv

Disappointing. Started well but oh dear, I really began to lose interest after about 40 minutes. Not well-paced, strange tone to the film that I did not think was effective.
