Peter Bowles returns as Major Sinclair Yeates, a retired English army officer appointed Resident Magistrate for the West Ireland in the days before Irish Independence. With his wife away in England looking after her ailing mother, the Major is even more exposed to the wiles of local inhabitants. Bobbie Bennett and Sally Knox both take it upon themselves to look after him, with disastrous consequences, and visitors to Skebawn continue to bend the law. Shot entirely on location in the beautiful and dramatic Irish countryside.
