It is 1979 and two teenage punks Reena (Annie Ryan) and Jessop (Brían F. O'Byrne) meet in Dublin. They decide to form a band, which they name The Dead Patriots, and over the next three years become a big attraction in a small town. When Petie (John Cronin), the band's drummer starts an affair with 'The Bard', a sexually ambiguous solo performer, Jessop realises that Reena has been keeping something from him. Reena senses that the band is self-destructing and wants to accept a poor record deal in London. When Jessop refuses to move, hostilities began to develop between the erstwhile friends.
