When her adoring father seeks his fortune in an Indian diamond mine, Sarah Crewe is told that she must attend a boarding school run by the evil Miss Michin. There she is subjected to backbreaking chores and cruel punishments, but nothing manages to dampen the young girl's zest for live. She meets each challenge with a song and a smile, and charms her new school friends by telling then wondrous adventure stories about a little princess who is separated from her dear father. But then, Sarah learns that her own father has been involved in a tragic mining accident, and the real adventure begins.
