Synopsis:
The four Marx Brothers, Harpo, Chico, Groucho and Zeppo, head for high-seas hilarity in this classic film comedy. While hiding from the of authorities on a luxury liner, the quartet stowaways become bodyguards of rival gangsters, with the usual hilarious results. And naturally, no woman can resist a shipboard romance with the wily, quick-witted Groucho. Written by S.J. Perelman, this laugh-filled escapade contains some of the Marx Brothers' wackiest routines, including the famous disembarkation sequence where they all pass themselves off as Maurice Chevalier. Take a madcap vintage voyage width the Mara Brothers, where lunacy rides the waves.

All punches, no plan - The Marx Brothers: Monkey Business review by griggs

Spoiler Alert
01/05/2025

Monkey Business kicks off with a flurry of funny gags and classic Marx Brothers chaos, but the laughs wear thin fast. It’s as if they blew through all their best material in the first half and then just kept riffing, hoping something would stick. By the end, it feels less like a film and more like a sketch show running out of steam. The wisecracks are relentless—so much so, they start to trip over the plot.
