1917. World War 1 rages across Europe... And Portugal is in the grip of a repressive, anti-religious government. As three children play in a meadowland near Fatima, they see a vision, a woman in a cloud of light who bring prophesies and words of faith. Local officials hear of the vision and threaten the children with torture if they don't recant. But the youthful believers cling to their convictions, inspiring the faith of the community... and far beyond. Seventy thousand people pour into Fatima after the children report the vision will perform a miracle. On that promised day the crowd standing in the rain, waiting. Suddenly the sun appears, whips across the darkened sky, and plummets madly towards the earth. The terrified multitude braces for the disaster - but the sun slowly returns to it's place in the heavens. In the meadowland below, the lame walk... the blind see... and the stunned crowd, including the children's formerly agnostic friend, rejoice in the miracle they have witnessed.
