As every Welshman knows, the life-blood of the country is in fact the red of the national team and the spirit of the nation ebbs and flows with the success and failure of their heroes. The Official History of Welsh Rugby, presented and narrated by Jonathan Davies, and interspersed with interviews from Dai Smith, Vivien Jenkins, Clive Rowlands, Robert Jones, Phil Bennett and Shane Williams traces the ups and downs of the Dragons from the foundation of the Welsh Rugby Union in 1881. The programme features highlights of Wales' epic 13-12 victory over the All Blacks in 1935 and Cardiff's even more amazing triumph in 1953 which ended with the captain Bleddyn Williams being carried off the pitch on the supporters' shoulders. We also look at the most memorable moments in Wales' Five and Six Nations history including incredible one-off achievements such as the 9-8 defeat of France to clinch the 1966 Championship and the glorious 32-31 victory over England at Wembley in 1999. But of course it is the Grand Slam teams that are given priority and particularly the Welsh teams of the 70s. The Grand Slam theme continues in the New Millennium with sensational performances in 2005 culminating in that unforgettable win against Ireland and in 2008 when, under the guidance of Warren Gatland, Wales swept all before them signalling a return to the glory days of the 70s. - Actors:
