This is the story of the North Staffordshire Royal Infirmary, not of a building but an organisation which has for 200 years provided the best service to the community that could be afforded at any particular time. Until 1948, the people of North Staffordshire led the way in providing sources of funding for their Infirmary. Since 1948 many people have given their time to serve the Infirmary and generously answer appeals for funds. In different buildings, on different sites - and even under different names - the Infirmary can be proud of its 200 years of service. Now a part of the North Staffordshire Hospitals NHS Trust, it looks with optimism to the new hospital development and medical school. Illustrated with original documents, early prints and photographs and rare archive film, this is a personal guide by Dr. Alun Davies through the fascinating history of the North Staffordshire Infirmary.
