'The Perishers' first appeared in British culture as a daily comic strip in 'The Daily Mirror' in 1959, written by Maurice Dodd and illustrated by Dennis Collins. In 1979, the beloved strip was brought to the small screen by FilmFair, the animation company behind British classics such as 'The Wombles' and 'Paddington'. The animated series featured Boot the dog, voiced by the fabulous Leonard Rossiter, whose performance perfectly set the tone for the show. Only 20 episodes were ever produced, originally broadcast on the BBC.
