Synopsis:
In the cold, dark waters of the Sea of Japan, a U.S. sub is sunk and destroyed in a surprise attack. Although nothing appeared on radar or sonar, Commander Hable is certain he saw a submarine submerging shortly before the attack. Dispatched on a top secret mission, Hable boards a hi-tech super-sub determined to find this 'phantom' of the ocean. When a crew member reports strange movements beneath the waves, Hable soon realises that the enemy have a new secret weapon, a stealth sub that when submerged cannot be identified on existing radar and sonar equipment. Knowing the phantom sub will follow him to the fleet, Hable disobeys orders and wages war against an enemy he cannot see.

Certainly Not Another Hunt For Red October! - The Phantom Below review by CP Customer

Spoiler Alert
12/06/2006

From the cheap feel of the opening credits and the subsequent unravelling of the story this disc has all the elements of a cheap US "made for tv" movie. The lead actor - Adrian Paul - bears more than passing resemblance to a young Sean Connery but this is no "Hunt For Red October". Yet despite this I still found this "tv movie" to be entertaining - although not as much as I would've liked. If you want to see a good submarine movie see the aforementioned "Red October", "Crimson Tide" or the brilliant "Das Boot". If you've seen these and fancy a reasonable 90 minutes worth of entertainment you could do worse than to rent this.
