Documentary co-directed by Pacho Velez and Sierra Pettengill. Presented entirely through the lens of archive footage, the presidency of 40th United States President Ronald Reagan is examined with particular focus on his evolving relationship with Soviet premier Mikhail Gorbachev and the essential role television and public relations played in Reagan's tenure. Over the course of two terms, Reagan's presidency oversaw many defining moments in modern American history, from the nuclear arms reduction treaty with the Soviet Union and the war on drugs to the Iran-Contra affair. Throughout it all Reagan's relationship with the media and his manipulation of his administration's representation on television formed the backbone of his enduring popularity.
