- Based on the best-selling book by Naoki Higashida, 'The Reason I Jump' is an immersive cinematic exploration of neurodiversity. It blends Higashida's revelatory descriptions of his autism, written when he was just 13, with intimate portraits of five nonspeaking autistic young people from around the world. Jerry Rothwell's sensually rich film opens a window into an intense, overwhelming, but often joyful experience, leading us to Naoki's core message: not being able to speak does not mean there is nothing to say.

Gateway to autism - The Reason I Jump review by AER
If you would like to know what it feels like to be a non-speaking autistic person then this bright documentary will help you. It serves as a dynamic education for those that aren't all that aware of what it means to be neurodivergent. I learnt a lot, so for me it was a vital watch. Very interesting and gives the viewer valuable insights.

what an inspiring, informative, and mind expanding film. It reminds us to make no assumptions of anyone's abilities and that we must find ways for us to accommodate and share each and every personal interpretation of life.
