- Alan Parker's film is set in 1907 in Battle Creek, Michigan. It follows the exploits and endeavours of patients, cranks and guinea pigs at the world famous Battle Creek Sanitarium; grand hotel, health spa and citadel to healthy living, run by the eccentric Dr. Kellogg -health guru and inventor of the cornflake.
