Along with the Beatles, The Rolling Stones were the key group of the sixties; headline makers, style icons, trend setters - but most of all the force behind a string of brilliant singles and albums that have come to define the era. To help tell the whole fascinating story, the programme hears from a unique cast of characters: Tony Hall, Radio Luxembourg DJ and A&R man for Decca Records, who worked closely with the group and manager Andrew Loog Oldham; close friend Johnny 'Hoppy' Hopkins, photographer, mover and shaker, and founder of the UFO club, one of the sixties most famous clubs; and Nick Tauber, former producer at Decca Records. To complement these unique memories and recollections, the programme draws upon powerful archive footage of a band that excited British teenagers and outraged their parents. Also featured are a team of leading journalists, authors and rock critics, who analyse the band's musical influences, key tracks and seminal albums.
