Based on a true story, vaudeville entertainer Eddie Foy (a great early influence on Bob Hope) has vowed to forever keep his act a solo, he falls in love with and marries the beautiful Italian ballerina Madeline (Milly Vitale). While they continue to tour the circuit, they begin a family and before long have seven little Foys to clutter the wings. After tragedy threatens to stall Eddie's career, he comes to realize that his little terrors are worth their weight in gold. James Cagney reprises his 'Yankee Doodle' role as Foy's friendly rival George M. Cohan in a spectacular dance sequence, Hope has never been better.
