A 1970s dream-like curio that's worth a watch - The Silent Flute review by RunDeckardRun

As a big fan of martial arts movies and, of course, Bruce Lee, I was very intrigued by the premise of this film. As it was released after Lee's death it's hard to know how much of his original idea remains. However, there is a distinct similarity with Lee's unfinished project Game of Death: linear quest-like narrative in which a fighter has a series of encounters in order to reach a goal. The atmosphere is typically 1970s and reminded me of films like Zardoz and other quasi-mystical hero-on-a-quest movies. David Carradine features prominently, doing what he does best as the eponymous blind flute-player. The always watchable Roddy McDowall also shows up, as does Christopher Lee who always makes anything worth watching.
