Penniless American Dan (George Segal) discovers a huge diamond (known as 'The Southern Star') during a geological survey in French West Africa. But his discovery leads to more trouble than he bargained tor, especially when the priceless stone is stolen and the hunt for the thief leads to the dangerous depths of the African jungle...This 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'-type adventure includes a thrill in every scene as Segal and beautiful heroine Ursula Andress battle and survive against all odds - stampeding elephants, bush fires, poisonous snakes, the sawing through of a suspension bridge and the courageous swimming of a hippopotamus infested river.
