- Synopsis:
- Sally El Hosaini co-writes and directs this drama based on a true story. Syrian teenager Yusra Mardini (Nathalie Issa) dreams of one day swimming at the Olympic Games. When the conflict in her home country escalates, Yusra and her sister Sara (Manal Issa) are forced to flee to neighbouring Lebanon before they are offered the chance to reach Europe. However, when the engine of their crowded dinghy fails in the middle of the Aegean Sea, the sisters must push the dinghy to shore if they are to save the lives of their fellow refugees.
