During WWII, densely populated European cities including London, Coventry, Plymouth, Manchester, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, and Dresden were targeted for huge bombing raids, which resulted in massive destruction of property and loss of life. This documentary focuses on the controversial raids on Cologne, Hamburg and Dresden by RAF Bomber Command. Utilising excellent archive and post war footage and interviews, the raids on each city are analysed in detail as to reasons, methods, and effects on the aircrews, and also recounts the reconstruction and immediate and long term effects on the residents of the targeted cities.
