In this much loved television series Harry Dodson re-creates a piece of horticultural history to demonstrate how simple and exotic flowers were cultivated.
Throughout the country it was the job of the head gardener to supply the lady of the house with flowers she required. He also had to decorate the dinner table, mansion rooms and often a large conservatory with beautiful flowers, as well as providing the traditional displays for family occasions.
Harry grows a wide range of plant varieties, including some which are seldom seen nowadays, to create magnificent displays. He even finds the time to create the wonderful floral decorations at a Victorian wedding, a grand musical and a funeral.
