The War Years 1939 The Phoney War Hitler invaded Poland on September 1st 1939. The beginning of the year was as normal as ever but the contrast was to be stark and immediate.
The War Years 1940 Their Finest Hour Hitler's Luftwaffe invaded Britain in an attempt to destroy the Royal Air Force. However, Goering underestimated the strength of the RAF and turned to bombing British cities instead. The Blitz had begun.
