Wow, so bad . I did continue watching as i could not believe just how aweful the pseudo satire fake wave it rode in on! Im sure it must be a complicated secretly far right wing agenda. Im a socialist and long term low income, but if i won a scratch card i might treat myself to a holiday in an amazing place and its not unreasonable to expect great service when you pay that much.
I worked in a ribs restaurant and we were taught to pander to all customers whims with a smile ,ditto all other retail work ive done.
You dont have to work in the service industry, it has taught me extremely useful lessons in life and all manor of emotional skills in dealing with people, i went on to do social work and the skill set isnt all that different. Btw i would work for nothing to stay in a place like that. I would recommend the Gawker review by John Ganz he nailed it.
I bet everyone that worked on that show has had a luxuary holiday, but they think its ok because....they are different.???? Rich people ARE insane , and its fun to see that depicted well , but this is just "Crossroads" in a beach.
Its cynical and snyde to rubbish peoples attempts at integrating some spitituality into their lives , and things like mindfullness are a meaningful regection of crapy babylon society.
To ctach up with this first series has been a diverting time in mid-winter. This is not simply a matter of its being set in Hawaii but in following an array of characters who are just this side of caricature - and often betond it - as guests and staff overlap in in a pricey, secluded resort. The dialogue, often brief, sometimes the stuff almost of monologue, is a delight - perhaps the best set-up since Six Feet Under a couple of decades ago. It has spurred me to watch more written and directed by Mike White.
