Michael Verhoeven directed this highly acclaimed 1982 German drama starring Lena Stolze and Wulf Kessler which tells the story of the 'The White Rose', the anti-Hitler student group led by Sophie Scholl and her brother Hans. They and a number of other Munich University students as well as one of their professors published leaflets calling for the end of the war, and the overthrow of the Nazis. Despite enormous risk, these young heroes tried to make a difference and spread the truth, eventually succeeding in getting one of their leaflets out to the west to be re-printed and dropped en masse over Germany by the Allies. This is their story.
