In this instalment of the travel documentary series, Australian explorer Ted Egan travels to the North-West coastal town of Broome. Broome, the pearling capital of Australia and once the pearling capital of the world, is a town like no other in Australia. Comprised of a mixture of gracious old colonial bungalows and modern architecture, Broome's Asian connection goes back to its very beginnings, and to this day descendants of Japanese pearl divers rub shoulders with Aboriginal desert people and Chinese restaurateurs in the town's extremely diverse and multicultural society.
